MUSIC ACTS

AAVIKKO (FRI 22:30, Main stage)

There are all kinds of trinities in the world. And not just religious ones, as even ancient pagan nations knew rational trinities. Various trinities are so firmly rooted in the worldview of Western man that they are somehow somewhat sacred. Ice hockey has three periods. In the dialectics of philosophers exist thesis, antithesis and synthesis. A club has the band, the audience and the dancefloor. Aavikko has three members.

Founded in 1995 in Siilinjärvi (Finland), Aavikko is functional applied music, shaping electronic sound with synthesizers. The band, which has been around for three decades, is the culmination of the utopia of retrofuturistic Eastern bloc synthesizer bands of the past, with resolutely imposing rhythms and melodies that whip you into dancing. The band’s expression is best encapsulated by yet another trinity: melody, harmony and rhythm. Muysic non stop.

The term “muysic” used by the band itself for their music is intoxicatingly addictive in all its simplicity. The manifestation is as captivating as the logos of entertainment programs or supermarket shelves. It does not involve trust in technology itself, but rather the desire to use electronic technology as a way to the human soul and heart. The band’s live performances are characterized by the impossibility of not dancing when the band plays – this is also encapsulated in the simple command familiar from gigs: “we play, you dance”.
